Find out about warmer homes in Dewsbury
Kirklees Warm Zone is returning to Dewsbury to offer local residents the chance to sign up for FREE cavity wall and loft insulation.

The Kirklees Warm Zone scheme, backed by Kirklees Council, has already benefited thousands of people across Kirklees by improving the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of their homes.

Starting in April, Kirklees Warm Zone will visit every home in the Dewsbury East ward on a street by street basis. Residents will be contacted in writing before they receive a personal visit from a representative who will help them complete a home assessment form. All Warm Zone Assessors carry ID badges and wear red jackets; people are encouraged to check identification to avoid any bogus callers.

As well as FREE home insulation, residents are offered a free carbon monoxide detector, energy saving light bulbs, a home energy report and their eligibility for other grants and loans. The scheme works closely with other community services and can refer people for benefit and debt advice, fire safety checks, water conservation advice and support for carers.

Ravensthorpe resident Jean Packman was delighted when Kirklees Warm Zone insulated her loft. “One man came round. He was quick and efficient and I was more than pleased with the service.” Since having the work done Jean has been able to reduce the use of her heating system and her gas fire. “The house now feels a lot warmer and retains the heat. I think the whole project is a very good idea and has definitely made my home feel more comfortable to live in.”

Cllr Molly Walton, Joint Cabinet member for Environment, Transportation and Regeneration, said: “Warm Zone is a great opportunity for local people to have their homes properly insulated, helping them to reduce their energy bills and their carbon footprint.

Representatives from Kirklees Warm Zone will be attending a number of local events to promote the scheme and advise people. For more information and general advice about the project, please attend the following events:
