The shop front scheme for Cleckheaton Centre is to be re-launched following a decision by the Spen Valley Area Committee on April 7.
A total of £50,000 has been made available to pay for improvements to commercial shop fronts in a defined area of Cleckheaton which expands on the area originally the focus in 2006-8.
The council is offering grants of 50% of the total cost of the improvements up to a maximum of £5,000, whichever is the lower.
The funding can cover the repair or replacement of guttering and downpipes; repair, restoration or renewal of commercial property fronts, or new shop fronts; pointing; repair or replacement of windows and doors; stonework repairs and improvements to front forecourts.
The grants are not available for new building, new extensions or general maintenance. Roller shutters will only be eligible if they are part of a more comprehensive shop front refurbishment and the boxed housing must be recessed fully within the shop front, they must be perforated or open-grille and be powder-coated. Planning permission for these must be sought first.
Anyone interested in the scheme should contact Carl Tinson to discuss their proposals informally before applying. His number is 01484 221668.
Cllr David Sheard, joint Cabinet member for Regeneration, Environment and Transport, said: “This extension of the shop front grant scheme will enable more businesses to take part. It will enhance the appearance of Cleckheaton Town Centre and help to make it a more vibrant and dynamic environment for visitors.”
